This is Southend's newest beach. Created in 2002 when the town's flood defenses were improved, the sand and shingle strip runs from the pier all the way to Thorpe Bay. It's a popular family beach, with attractions including amusements, restaurants and cafés. It's also popular for kite surfing, with a special kite-surfing area managed by Southend Kite Surfing Club. Boat trips, sailing, windsurfing and kayaking are also available.
