Directly opposite the Jockey Club in Newmarket High Street is the wonderful King Edward VII Memorial Hall. It was founded on the benefaction of Charles II. In 1911, Sir Ernest Cassel gave the King Edward VII Memorial Hall to the Town for its residents to use. Hidden behind the hall is the glorious Memorial Hall Gardens, which are used to escape the busy High Street only feet away. In 1999 the Town Council took over the care of the building and gardens.
