This Norman fortress stands above high the city and is just a short, level walk from the Cathedral. Unlike most castles it is not just a museum but also the location of Lincoln’s present day Crown Court. One of the castle’s star attractions is one of the four surviving copies of Magna Carta from 1215. It is displayed in a controlled environment as the centrepiece of an exhibition explaining the history and impact of the charter on the British people.
