Longthorpe Tower is located just outside of Peterborough and is a grade 1 listed monument. The 14th Century three-storey tower was added to an existing manor house in 1310 as a fortified defence post. The main attraction of the tower is on the inside, where there is the best-surviving medieval wall painting collection in Northern Europe on display. The property is cared for by English Heritage.
