The Lowestoft Wind Turbine was completed on Friday 10th of December 2004 and is Suffolk’s first commercial wind turbine. Built by SLP Energy, it took just 4 days to construct and is located at Britain’s most easterly point, Ness point in Lowestoft. Standing some 126m (413 ft) high this giant wind turbine can be seen towering over the town and is estimated to generate 2.75MW of electricity, enough energy to power 1500-1600 homes. The rotor diameter is 92m (301ft) and each of the 3 blades weighs 10 tonnes.
