The museum is housed in a former lifeboat station with a history that dates back well over a century. The collection is centred around maritime, urban, geological and seaside developments throughout the ages. One of the prized possessions of the museum is a restored Norfolk type lifeboat, the James Stevens Number 14. There are many pictures and testimonial relating to the restoration of this impressive vessel.
