This charming building can be found in the High Street, and has been a distinctive and central feature since 1682, when it was gifted to the town by Sir William Drake. The old town water pump contained within the building dates back to 1782. The downstairs is an open area with a flagstone floor and was used for trading purposes, whilst the upstairs was used for teaching the town's children. The hall has a wooden turret and a clock tower, clearly visible from either end of the High Street. An attractive piece of architecture, well loved by local people.
