Milton’s Cottage is a Grade I listed 16th century cottage where John Milton lived and completed ’Paradise Lost’ and started ’Paradise Regained’. Four ground floor museum rooms contain many unique items and important 1st editions of John Milton’s poetry and prose works. See the posthumous portrait by Sir Godfrey Kneller and the Milton Shield on display, along with a well stocked and very attractive cottage garden featuring many of the plants mentioned in Milton’s poetry.
