The museum was established in 1884 and quickly became world renowned as one of the finest collections in its field on the planet. The museum displays high quality exhibitions of archaeological and anthropological interest from different countries. The ground floor gallery contains displays of world pre-history and local exhibits of archaeological interest. The first floor gallery has a geographical collection of pieces relating to historic and social anthropology, whilst the top floor is reserved for special collections and visiting exhibits.
