Beccles Old Market certainly dates back to the early 13th century when it’s mentioned in court records and probably to Saxon times when it was most likely used for fairs and markets. Today, many historic buildings remain. Among them, St Peter's House, a large 18th Century brick house with a Gothic back, and Ravensmere House, which has some interesting brickwork and which dates from 1694.
