The Potters Bar Museum opened in 1990 and is run by a group of volunteers in association with district historical society. There are a great deal of interesting exhibitions on display at the museum, including archaeological finds from the motte and bailey castle that once stood at South Mimms. There is an extensive look at the modern town, and the way it has been changed by such progressions as the advent of the M25 motorway.
