Southend's oldest public park was laid out in 1855. Prittlewell Square is set in the heart of Southend's Conservation Area and flanked by fine period houses. The layout seen today was designed in the 1920s and the fountain and pond added 10 years later. The gardens have recently been restored and brought back closer to their original design, with new paths, formal planting and Edwardian-syle seats contributing to the effect.
