This ‘award winning’ family orientated museum is extremely popular, welcoming over 20,000 visitors a year. The museum was built in 1835 and is situated in the quaint surroundings of a small green and walled garden close to the centre of this medieval market town. The permanent collections at the museum include, porcelain, textiles, medieval antiques, glassware, china and natural history. There is an excellent selection of exhibits on local history and the museum regularly plays host to visiting exhibitions from around the world.
