Fans of maritime history can get their fill of it here with model ships, pictures, photographs and other nautical exhibits. Model ships include HMS Sole Bay, the Bittern, which was a beach yawl, and a large schooner. The Reading Room was built in 1864 in memory of Charles Rayley RN, by his widow. She wanted to create a place for sailors to go other than the pub and visitors today can still relax in the comfortable armchairs, read the papers and browse the display cabinets just as intended.
