Sandford Mill Museum allows visitors to see a working part of Chelmsford’s industrial heritage. The mill is Chelmsford’s old waterworks, situated on the River Chelmer. On public open days the museum allows unprecedented access to the machinery to see the working components in action as the water powers the great mill. There are various interactive exhibitions designed for young and old to help explain how the mill operates.
