One of the UK’s first offshore wind farms, Scroby Sands began producing electricity in 2005. It has 30 turbines, each with three 40 metre-long blades, held 68 metres about sea level, on steel supports plunged up to 30 metres into the sea bed. The Visitor Centre explains how the turbines work, through displays and interactive models. It’s popular attraction, receiving up to 35,000 visitors each year. Admission is free.
