This fascinating bunker has enjoyed three epochs of existence, each with a distinct purpose. The first buildings were constructed as part of the RAF ROTOR Station. It was then briefly turned into a civil defence centre, before finally settling on its current status as a Regional Government HQ. The centre was designed to house up to six hundred military and civil personnel, their task being to organise the country in the event of a nuclear war.
