Undoubtedly this is the most famous University of Cambridge building that isn’t owned by any of the colleges. It sits proudly at the end of a line of famous colleges opposite the university church. It is the administrative centre of the university and the place where degree results are announced in the summer time, incidentally this is the only day of the year when students are permitted on the lawn. The building was constructed in 1730 and designed by James Gibbs.
