Southend Pier Museum tells the story of Southend's most famous landmark, from its construction in 1830, through fires, wars and recession to restoration and rebuilding. Other displays cover the history of pleasure boats and entertainment in the town. Among the most interesting exhibits are a restored pier signal box, a toast-rack pier, penny-slot machines and photos of the Pier going back to 1830. Free admission for accompanied children under 12 (except school groups).
