Southwold Harbour probably isn't quite as busy today as it was in the 11th Century when, according to the Domesday Book, it was a prosperous port. The area is very popular in the summer though, and visitors can still eat and drink in the local inn and buy fresh fish from the many fishmongers here. In winter, a tidal flow that often floods the quayside attracts curious visitors. Other attractions include regular ferry and riverboat trips.
