Spilsby Church is a pretty building standing in the centre of the market town. With a traditional Victorian facade, the interior is generally plain. However, the church was originally built in the early 1300s, and has six bells in the tower that date to the mid 1700s. The church contains a memorial to Spilsby’s most famous son, Sir John Franklin, the sailor and explorer. Franklin discovered much of Southern Australia and named the places he found after places local to Spilsby.
