St Edmundsbury Cathedral lies at the heart of the market town of Bury St Edmunds and is adjacent to the Abbey Gardens on Angel Hill. St Edmundsbury is the Mother Church of Suffolk and is a rare example of an English Cathedral that is still in the process of being built. The tower was a capped stump but as part of the Millennium Tower Project the Cathedral now has a central lantern tower rising from the heart of the county’s Cathedral directly above the central altar.
