The library at St. John’s College dates from the 1620s and is one of the most extensive and spectacular of any of the Cambridge colleges. The Upper Library is the most famous part and includes collections of medieval, illuminated and post medieval manuscripts. There are also works of fiction and fact that cover a massive series of topics from medicine and science to literature and sports. Many of the books date back to the 15th Century and are highly valuable.
