St. Mary is a fine village church, very large by the standards of most parish churches in the area and a sign of the traditional affluence of the area. The first parts of the church were constructed in the 12th Century and ever since then the building has been added to decade-by-decade and century-by-century, resulting in the magnificent structure that stands today. The church has a large congregation who take an active part in village life.
