Notable for its position, crowning the top of a hill overlooking the town, this magnificent church dominates the Bishop’s Stortford skyline. There has been a church on the site since Norman times, but it is believed that much of the present building dates from the fifteenth Century. It is an unusually large church for the town it serves, measuring 52 metres long by 56 metres high. The church’s imposing spire can be seen from many surrounding towns and villages. The building went through renovations in the 17th and 19th centuries. Some of the most impressive internal fixtures include the font dated from 1150, the nave arcade and the chancel.
