St Peter’s Church has a history that spans over a millennium and is one of the most important religious buildings in the East of England. The remarkably well-preserved Anglo Saxon tower is the centrepiece, dating from 970AD. There is a tall medieval nave and chancel that demonstrates a mixture of architectural styles used over a period of hundreds of years. The burial grounds surrounding the church offer an insight into the disease and diet of the people of this area in the past.
