A long-established venue for live performance, The Square has provided a launch pad for no end of acts both in music and comedy. Bands who have played at The Square include Coldplay, Billy Bragg, Pulp, Snow Patrol, Blur and The Libertines. Comedians who have graced the stage include Jack Dee, Eddie Izzard, Harry Hill, Bill Bailey and local favourite Attilla the Stockbroker. The Square provides low-cost music and video recording facilities for local youths generously subsidised and supported by Essex County Council Youth Services.
