The artillery fort at Tibury sits on the banks of the Thames Estuary and was an important defensive point on the London sea approach from the 16th Century right up until the end of the Second World War. Visitors can now enter one of the 19th Century magazines and experience the dark and atmospheric tunnels that once would have been filled with soldiers ready to fight off invading ships.
