Beccles has many fine 18th Century buildings, which are testament to the town’s prosperous past. This one was built in 1765 on the site of the original medieval market cross. Gothic Revival in style, this red-brick building is octagonal shaped and there was once an octagonal turret over the doorway. The building was a Shire Hall and a Court House before becoming the home of Beccles Town Council. Beccles Town Hall is Grade II listed.
