Trinity House is a unique maritime organisation which has had as its prime objective, the safety of shipping and the welfare of seafarers. Founded by Henry VIII In 1514, Trinity House is responsible for lights and navigational aids around Britain’s coasts. It has been in Harwich since 1812 and is now the Headquarters for England and Wales which was previously in London but moved to Harwich in 1940. The Trinity House is located on the corner of West Street in Old Harwich.
