Wellington Pier is crammed with family entertainments. Among them, fun rides, computerized bowling alleys and slot machines. There's also a gift shop and an icecream parlour and, for over 18s, a casino. In 2003, the pier was given a fast facelift, reopening in 2004. The original pier was built in 1853 and the 700-foot-long wooden structure cost nearly £7000 to build. In 1899, a new pier replaced it.
