This beautiful and unusual project was started as a peace and reconciliation programme after the horrors of the First World War. The Whipsnade Tree Cathedral covers an area of over nine acres and is managed and maintained by the National Trust. Containing a vast selection of native and imported trees, the avenues of woodland form a nave, transepts, chapel and cloisters that visitors are invited to explore.
