Arthur’s Seat dominates the Edinburgh skyline and can be seen here rising behind Calton Hill. Located in Holyrood Park, it can be climbed in an hour. The western edge of this ancient volcano is flanked by the path, known as the Radical Road, up by the red-tinged Salisbury Crags. However, the best way up is via the ruins of St. Anthony’s Chapel. Continue uphill, through gorse, into a smaller valley. Keep to the right to reach Arthur’s Seat and enjoy the extensive panorama.

It's not an easy walk up to Arthur's Seat but it's one that is worth making. The route is steep in places but you will be rewarded with a truly wonderful view of Edinburgh when you get to the top.
