If you time your visit right you can get to hear and see the guns being fired. All very exciting. The castle is as stout and strong as it always has been and a tour around the castle was high on my list of must do's when visiting Edinburgh. I was not, and I doubt you will be, disappointed with what I saw.

Edinburgh Castle is a great day out and there is so much to see and do that you could easily spend the whole day there. Word of warning, though: try to get your tickets in advance. When we visited, there was a huge queue just to purchase tickets which must have taken at least half an hour to get through despite numerous ticket kiosks being open.
