The Museum on the Mound documents the history of Scotland's first and oldest bank. The exhibition also includes information on the building's architecture, the Union Act, paintings of important persons, pictures and maps of both historical and contemporary Edinburgh, old advertisements, bank notes, coins and associated forgeries, the development of ATM's and bank cards, as well as information on customers and merged-in companies from the British Linen Company Bank to Halifax Building Society and Clerical Medical & General Assurance Society and employees' tools. The staff is friendly, chatty and approachable; the museum includes some hands-on games for children.
