The Parliament House, just behind Saint Giles Cathedral on the Royal Mile, is named so as this was the home of the Parliament of Scotland from 1640 until the Union of 1707. Today it is home to the Supreme Court of Scotland. This medieval marvel contains a main hall with a remarkable hammerbeam roof, as well as a massive and breathtaking stained glass window depicting the inauguration of the original court system, the College of Justice.
