The Queen's Gallery is a purpose-built modern art gallery and museum in the shell of the former Holyrood Free Church and Duchess of Gordon's School. It was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 2002. The exhibitions are thematically selected from the hidden treasures of The Royal Collection, which consists of of wide array of presents to the Monarchy; such as artworks, prints, armour, furniture, jewelleries and textiles. Acclaimed exhibitions so far include Canaletto in Venice (2006/2007), Leonardo DaVinci (2002), Fabergé (2003), The Padshahnama (2004) and Dutch Painters.
