The South Side Museum is located in the Gray Room, and displays a range of artefacts from the industrial past of this area. There is an extensive collection of school mementoes as well as a large archive of photography. Thomas Nelson Junior constructed the hall in which the museum stands in 1913 as a place where ‘persons of the working class can sit, read and write’. It is one of the most impressive pieces of architecture in the area.
