The Traverse Theatre first opened its doors to the public in 1963, and has since that time established a nationwide reputation as one of the most influential showcases of new writing talent. There are a series of plays, musicals and comedies on the programme throughout the year as well as hosting art and crafts shows by local and visiting artists. Many of Scotland's best screenwriters and playwrights have cut their teeth here.
