The Scottish Screen Archive was established in 1976 and is a department of Scottish Screen, one of the regional film bodies set up by the British government for the promotion of film in the nation. The archive is home to a vast collection of film material that comes from nearly a hundred years of cinema. There are over 32,000 reels of film in the archive, including features, shorts, documentary, drama and comedy.
