A simple but large building tucked away down a little alley, Stow Baptist Chapel was built in 1852, although Baptists have been meeting in Stow since the 17th Century. At that time, the Act of Uniformity forced them to do so in secret and two cottages here in Sheep Street were often used, before this chapel was built. In it, there were once two silver Communion Cups that, it is said, Cromwell himself took Communion from. The cups are now in the Baptist Church House in London.
