Barrow Hill near Pensnett is a prominent landmark made up of dolerite, formed underneath what was once the Dudley Volcano. The summit, marked by a cross, is over 150m above sea level and gives stunning views across the area. Today, as a protected nature reserve, Barrow Hill is an important green space in the Dudley Borough. It supports a large number of habitats and species, including diverse grassland, ancient woodland and great crested newts. Visitors can follow a number of different trails to explore the site’s history and wildlife.
