Situated a short distance from Cheltenham amongst some charming Gloucestershire countryside, Belas Knap Long Barrow represents a particularly fine exampe of a Neolithic tomb, dated around 2500 BC. The site features a false entrance and side chambers and was excavated in 1863 and 1865. During these digs the bones of over thrity people were found inside. In recent times the barrow has been restored and is managed by English Heritage.
