Brunswick Square comes as a surprise. We expect a Georgian square to be built to a uniform pattern, every house wearing the same overcoat. Brunswick Square defied the aesthetic of the time. Around the gracious central garden are terraces of varying heights and design, though all were built in the early 19th century. The square is named after Caroline of Brunswick, wife of George IV. Several British towns gave her name to a Regency development.
