The Clent Hills Country Park is only eight miles from the Birmingham conurbation yet it seems a world away. The area was a popular destination for working people from the Midlands before the advent of paid holidays. Owned by the National Trust, it is still especially popular with walkers and pony trekkers today because of the sheer diversity of terrain. The hills are approximately 1000 feet high and, on a clear day, visitors can see swathes of Birmingham and the Black Country, Worcestershire, Shropshire and the Welsh borders.
