Acquired by the National Trust in 1946, this imposing Tudor house is surrounded by charming gardens. Once an important seat of power in the Tudor era, the house is associated with both the Gunpowder Plot and the Civil War. There is an extensive collection of Catholic treasures within the property that include furniture, porcelain and paintings covering many centuries of art history.
