The dovecot at Staunton Court (now a business park) is a picturesque building which overlooks the popular fishing ponds. The half-timbered dovecot measures 26 feet by 21 feet and its walls are 2 feet thick. The pretty structure is sited at the court that once belonged to the family of Dick Whittington, who famously headed for London and became Lord Mayor. There is a dovecot mentioned in the grounds here during the 13th Century in the Red Book of Exchequer.
