Set in the grounds of Dudley Zoo, Dudley Castle sits majestically above the town with commanding views of the Black Country from the keep. Originally built c1071, the castle has been rebuilt at least four times. The keep, curtain wall and gatehouse were completed by 1310 and in the 16th century, Sir John Dudley remodelled part of the castle in the new Renaissance style. Look for the reconstruction of a garderobe which contains animal bones and curls of hair believed to be from Royalist Cavaliers.
