This row of black and white cottages in Pembridge is known as the Duppa Almshouses. It bears the inscription, ‘Forget not your good benefactor Brian Duppa, Bishop of Winchester who bielded this hospital 1661’. The almshouses, founded by Jeffrey Duppa and later augmented by Brian Duppa consist of six, two-storey timber framed dwellings, projecting at both ends. The roof is stone slate and there are three large stone chimneys at the back. The houses are now occupied by elderly residents of Pembridge parish.
