Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre is worth visiting not only for its performances, which include opera, drama, dance, ballet, comedy, pantomime and music, but also for its fine Rococo interior. Theatre architect, Frank Matcham, who also designed the London Palladium, created the ornate auditorium in 1891 and it has survived largely unchanged, his earliest work to have done so. Outside, the brick façade was largely rebuilt in 1986, although many original features remain. A much smaller auditorium, The Outer Space, with just 66 seats, is used for small-scale performances.
